Have You had an Annual Thermogram?

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Ask any woman if they can’t wait to get a mammogram. I don’t know a single woman that loves mammograms. They squish, smash and pinch your breasts. You feel very humiliated and degraded.

My maternal gramma had two radical mastectomies in her 60’s. So, breast cancer does run in my family.

I have not had a mammogram in over 10 years. That doesn’t mean I don’t take breast health seriously. It just means I have found some other alternatives that may in the long run be healthier and detect issues earlier.

For the last 6 years I have been getting a thermogram or an ultrasound to check my breast health.

Listen in or read on below for why a Thermogram may be a great choice.

NOTE: This blog post is only to make you aware there are other options out there. As always please do your own research and make the best decision for you! I have put links to my resources below.

What is Thermography?

Thermography is state of the art thermal imaging.

It is a method that is considered one of the most reliable for detecting breast cancer.

Thermography uses ultra-sensitive, high-resolution digital infrared cameras to track thermal (heat) patterns in a patient’s body.

It takes about 15 minutes with no smashing of breasts or radiation.

Thermography can be performed on the whole body to look for and watch patterns of inflammation and abnormalities. If something is found then further testing may be performed.

I had an area that they were watching and it was suggested I get further testing done with an ultrasound. This is the only reason I did an ultrasound which also doesn’t use radiation.

How does Thermography Work?

The thermographic cameras used work by detecting heat that a body naturally emits resulting in thermal images. Everything in the universe gives off some heat. Infrared thermography converts radiant heat into an image that can be seen.

Where red will show the very hottest areas of a body and blue is the coolest.

Skin temperature increases in those areas where a tumor is growing due to the rapid cell growth and blood flow.

A baseline thermal image is taken of a patient and then the images are compared each time a thermogram is done looking for changes. Each person’s thermal image is unique like a finger print.

Thermography imaging is also used at airports to detect concealed weapons and used by military for surveillance.

Why Thermography?

Thermography has the following benefits:

  • Doesn’t use radiation to detect abnormalities. Radiation can cause cancer and mammograms emit 1,000 times greater radiation than x-rays.

  • Totally pain-free.

  • Doesn’t compress or squeeze the breast. If you had a malignant tumor this could cause it to spread malignant cells.

  • Based on research there is no solid evidence that mammograms save lives compared to women who did self-examinations.

  • Over 800 scientific studies.

  • Detects abnormal growth before it is a tumor.

  • Really is early detection - Studies indicate that thermograms can detect cancer when there are only about 250 cancer cells present, mammograms can't detect cancer until there are about 4 million cells, or a tumor is about 1 mm in size.

  • Cost effective.

  • Can also be used to detect fibrocystic diseases, infections, allergies, cardiovascular disease impacting arteries and sources of pain.

  • Reliable, accurate and precise data.

Thermography is what I use as one of the tools in my Health and Wellness tool box. I am not telling you Thermography is what you should do. I am telling you what I found when I researched.

Please do your own research. Be informed.

Please share this information with other people you love. Men and women who have had mastectomies do get breast cancer and breast imaging is not the only thing Thermography is used for.
