D-I-E-T is a 4-Letter Word

Updated: Dec 15, 2021

Diets don’t work! They often leave you starving, deprived, and feeling like a failure.

What if I told you this doesn’t have to be true and you could still lose weight if that is your goal, plus look and feel great?

Listen in or read on below as we debunk a few diet myths and replace that 4-Letter word

d-i-e-t with healthy lifestyle.

Most of us have said at one time or another, “I need to go on a diet.” I hear this all the time from clients, friends, family and on social media.

Diet really is a 4-letter word to most people. Is it any coincidence that die is the first 3 letters of the word diet? I think not. ;)

Diets don’t work because they have an expiration date, an end date, because you either reach your goal or you give up. Either way you slowly end up eating the things that sent you to dieting in the first place.

I am always asked, “What is the best diet?” by my clients, family and friends. Is it low fat/no fat, high protein, little to no carbs? What is it?

I find most people believe that a “diet” needs to be tasteless, boring and you should feel deprived and hungry most of the time.

What if I told you this doesn’t have to be true and you could still lose weight if that is your goal, plus look and feel great?

Let’s debunk a few diet myths but first, let’s replace that 4-Letter word d-i-e-t with healthy lifestyle.

Myth 1 - When I am on a diet then my food will be bland and tasteless.

Why? There are hundreds of spices and herbs that you can choose from. They will add little calories but enhance the flavor of any dish you have made. Many spices and herbs even have natural medicinal properties.

Sea salt and pepper are also great choices. Notice I said sea salt. If you are using regular white salt you can throw it out as it is bleached and stripped of all nutrients and not good for your health. Sea salt has many minerals that your body needs.

Myth 2 - When I am on a diet, I will be hungry all the time.

That’s the problem with diets. They leave you feeling hungry. Many diets may require you to count calories and eat a lot less food.

Some diets believe you should eliminate most fats. Others tell you to eat lots of protein or to lower your protein. Then there are those that require you to eat little to no carbs.

No wonder we are left wondering what to eat!

Having a good balance of healthy protein and healthy fats are what make us feel full and satisfied and not looking in the cupboard less than an hour after we eat. We each have a unique ratio of protein, fats and carbs that make us feel the best. I help my clients find their unique ratio.

Myth 3 - When I am on a diet, I will feel deprived.

I get it. I thought that too when I first started changing to a healthy lifestyle. Over 15 years ago, for my health I needed to eat gluten free, dairy free and sugar free. All those different foods created inflammation in my body.

Good God what was I going to eat!! Don’t take my bread and cheese away! I will die! I can’t do it!!

I still eat this way and don’t feel deprived. I have some of those things occasionally. It is not the norm. I have found very satisfying yummy tasting alternatives.

And now there are so many healthy choices out there to choose from.

If you truly want better health, to find your happy weight, as well as feel and look good then you will want to create a healthy lifestyle change too. It doesn’t have to be hard and it doesn’t have to happen overnight.

The difference is a lifestyle change does not have an expiration date. It is a way of life. Once you feel the difference you will understand and won’t look back either.

Give me a yes in the comments below if you are ready to ditch the diet? I would love to be your guide to help you create your healthy lifestyle.
