4 Natural Ways to Increase Your Energy

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Do you ever feel like you have little to no energy? You just feel like you want to lay on the coach and vegetate.

Laying on the coach may drain your energy more.

Drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks may give you a boost of energy but usually you are right back to low energy or even lower.

What can you do?

Here are 4 ways to increase your energy naturally.

Listen in or read on below for you to increase your energy starting now.

Drink up.

Some of the first signs of dehydration is low energy, feeling tired and exhausted.

Most people are dehydrated and don’t even know it.

Many people I coach will tell me they forget to drink water and may even get to the end of the day and may have only consumed a single glass of water.

It is not unusual for people to confuse hunger and thirst cues from their bodies. So, instead of drinking they will eat.

Our bodies are mostly made up of water. So, when we don’t take in enough water then our metabolism will drop and we feel tired.

Think about that if you want to lose weight.

I invite you to strive for at least half of your body weight in ounces of water, herbal or green tea to stay hydrated. Drink mostly water.

This will also help reset your cue for thirst if it is off.

At the beginning of each day, I fill a half gallon mason jar full of water to drink for the day. It serves as a great reminder of how much water I want to drink. The jar is about half of my body weight in ounces.

Move it.

I know sometimes the last thing we want to do is move or exercise when we don’t feel that we have the energy for it.

Incorporating regular exercise or movement is one of the best ways to increase your energy and motivation.

It gets your blood flowing, nutrients to your cells and your cells are oxygenated.

As much as I do love exercise (Yep! I am one of those people.) there are days I don’t feel like working out. But every time I don’t feel like working out and I workout, I feel so much better and ready to tackle most anything after.

I encourage you to try even a short walk around the block. You might be surprised that you end up walking further once you get started.

Improve Sleep Quality.

Your low energy could be from not getting enough quality sleep at night.

The quality of your sleep is just as important as the quantity of sleep you get.

If you think sleep might be contributing to your low energy levels here is another article that I wrote that may help you - 3 Tips for a Better Night's Sleep.

A few things not in that article that may help:

  • Going to bed and waking up about the same time each day.

  • No caffeine after 3pm because the effects may last up to 12 hours. Many people tell me that they can fall asleep right after drinking a cup of coffee. You may be able to but your sleep may also be more restless.

  • No alcohol 4 hours before sleep. Alcohol may make you fall asleep but interferes with the quality of your sleep. You also may experience restless sleep and night sweats.

Eat Energizing Foods.

Everything in the world has energy and a frequency.

Geek out with me on this one.

Our foods have different levels of energy and frequencies.

Doesn’t it make sense you would want to eat foods that contain a higher frequency and more energy especially if your energy is low?

The highest frequency foods are uncooked organic vegetables and organic fruits.

The lowest frequency foods, as you probably have already guessed, are processed, GMO, or fast foods. The lowest frequency foods may even hover very near zero.

Cooking your food also lowers the energy of the food. So, make sure to have some raw veggies and fruits each day.

We can do many things to increase our energy naturally. These are just a few to try.
